Welcome!

I’m Leigh Saint-Louis, M.D., Board Certified in Family Medicine. Thank you for visiting!

Note: Dr Leigh will be OUT OF TOWN
Sunday, April 22 through Sunday, April 29, 2012
and
Saturday, May 12 through Sunday, May 20th.

If you need urgent or emergency care during those times, please proceed directly to the Urgent Care Center, or the Emergency Department of your nearest hospital.
If you need medical advice, you may still call or text my cellphone, leave a voicemail message, or email me. I will have my computer (electronic medical records) and can also fax or mail prescriptions as needed.
Every time zone is later than ours here in Oregon; please be mindful of this when calling at night. I will try to also be mindful, and not call you back at 5 am!

As a family doctor, I am a holistic practitioner, taking into consideration the interactions of the physical processes with the social, environmental, and psychic aspects of your life.

Family medicine is the only “all-ages” specialty: I take care of newborns and kids, teens and grownups, and older folks. By training and preference, I take particular care with GLBT and Trans folk, who have very often been underserved by the medical community. I am also experienced and comfortable with issues around death and dying.

My main job is to protect your well-being. I believe everyone deserves a personal physician: one who knows you well, and who knows what you want and need, to be safe, strong, and free.

In terms of my personal style, I practice “slow medicine” for all ages: taking plenty of time to collaborate with you, rather than rushing to dictate what I think you should do, then rushing you out the door. You are the expert in your body… and I know a lot about Western medicine. Let’s put our heads together, and come up with a plan!

I also prioritize translating scientific jargon into plain language, whether it comes from the latest research, or from the specialist you saw last week. See the “Handouts” tab for many examples of downloadable/printable handouts you can share with your friends and relations.

Appointment hours:
Monday 2 – 6 pm
Tuesday 9 – 11 am and 2 – 6 pm
Thursday 9 – 11 am and 2 – 6 pm
Saturday 9 am – 1 pm
Book your own appointment, at your convenience – click the “Visit Me” tab above.
Ask me about after-hour, off-day, and housecall appointments, if medically necessary.
These are the hours during which you can make appointments. If there are no appointments, I’m not there! I do not have a nurse or receptionist to answer your questions, if you “walk in.” I see patients by appointment only.

Location:
3575 Donald Street, Suite 230, at the Tamarack Center in Eugene, Oregon (94705).

Contact me:
Toll-free voicemail/ e-fax, 866-581-5559
Email, leigh@drleigh.org
Salespeople/ spammers: I may not reply. I never accept visits or free offers from drug company representatives, including “free samples.”

About insurance:
I have contracts with four, and only four, insurance companies:
1. Providence (PEBB)
2. Regence (Blue Cross/Blue Shield)
3. PacificSource
4. LifeWise
This means that, for customers of these insurance companies, I am “in network”, which means your insurance may pay for a bigger portion of any visits you make to me. (Out-of-pocket deductibles, copays, and coinsurance still apply, according to the terms of your individual policy.)

I am not a contractor for ODS, OHP/LIPA, Medicare, Medicaid, or anyone else. For those companies, I am “out of network,” and a different set of benefits apply.

I’m always happy to see patients with any kind of insurance, or with no insurance at all!
Please visit the “Services” tab, to view flexible payment plans.

Are you a chronic pain patient?
Please click here and scroll down, for a word about chronic pain.

About babies and shots:
I am a vaccine-friendly physician. Although my goal is to offer shots as a convenience to my patients of all ages, I do not stock vaccines at this time. In the meanwhile,  the Public Health Department offers low-cost shots to adults and children. I can let you know what shots are recommended, on a schedule that works best for your family and you.

If you have to travel from outside the Eugene-Springfield area, I urge you to find a personal physician located near your residence. I can not guarantee that I would be able to come to you, and you certainly would not be able to come to me, in a crisis, if you live far away. This is a safety issue!
